Open to Limerick Lady qualifiers, aged 3 years and over, provided that they are in foal to or have a foal at foot by an APPROVED THOROUGHBRED STALLION listed in the I.H.R.

CLOSING DATE FRIDAY 6th AUGUST

REGULATIONS

1.             For Matrons with Foal at foot covering details for 2009 signed and dated by the stallion owner, must be entered in the passport (Green Book) and available for inspection on Show day.

2.        Matrons without foal at foot must have a current pregnancy certificate, signed and dated by a veterinary surgeon, available for inspection on Show day.

 

Failure to comply with these regulations will lead to disqualification.

 

The Championship will take place on

SUNDAY AUGUST 22ND 2010

 

PRIZES:                Champion €300 and The Perpetual Challenge Trophy:   Reserve: €250; Third €200:  Fourth €150: 

Best 3 year-old €100 (if not the Champion or Reserve)

Best Turned Out Handler & Matron €100

 

Each non prize winning 3 year old Filly presented will receive €00 and all other non prize winning Matrons presented and placed 5th - 10th will receive €50

 

MARE PREMIUMS:  A MAXIMUM OF SIX PREMIUMS OF €400 EACH MAY BE AWARDED TO THE HIGHEST PLACED MATRONS

THESE WILL BE AWARDED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGES

 

BEST FOAL COMPETITION

For Foals at foot by Approved Thoroughbred Stallions and out of participants qualified for The  Limerick Matron Championship.

 

Prize Fund 1st: €100  and The Major Jed O’Dwyer Perpetual Challenge Trophy    2nd: €50

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.            This Championship is confined to Irish Draught 2 year old Fillies, the progeny of a registered Irish Draught Mare or appendix Mare, and R.I.D. Stallion who have qualifie at selected I.S.A. Shows this season.

2.                    Each entry must have her passport available for checking by the I.S.A. representative, both to the Qualifiying Show and to the Final  to confirm that she is eligible to compete.  No filly will be allowed to compete unless her passport is in order.

       3              Two animals in each qualifying class may be selected to compete in the Final provided that the judges agree that the standard is high enough.

       4.             One of the judges to the Qualifying Shows must be from the Irish Draught Society

       5.             Animals qualified for Final are not eligible to enter in any other class at the Show.

THE LIMERICK LADY CHAMPIONSHIP

 

SPONSORED BY HORSE SPORT IRELAND

 

RING 1                                                                   3.00  p.m.

CONDITIONS

1.             For two-year-old non-thoroughbred fillies, suitable for producing Hunters, Show Jumpers and Eventers.

2.        Fillies must have been registered with the I.H.B. as FOALS and must be by APPROVED

                       a)  Thoroughbred Stallions

                       b)  Registered Irish Draught Stallions, or

        c) Irish Sport Horse Stallions PROVIDED that such Stallions are of Thoroughbred/R.I.D. cross.

3.        Dams of fillies must also be by Stallions as above and registered with the I.H.B.

4.        All Exhibitors must have their filly’s passport (Green Book) at the qualifying Show and the Championship.

5.        The entry fee for a qualifying class is €15.   Entry Fee to the Final is €20

6.        Fillies entered in the qualifying class must also be entered in some other class at that Show.

7.        More than one filly may be selected at any qualifying Show provided that the standard of entries warrants such selection.

8.        Should the standard of entries be deemed to be insufficient, no filly will be selected.

9.        Infringement of these conditions or Championship regulations may disqualify.

Each Filly selected at qualifying Shows will receive a Limerick Lady Rosette and thereafter are eligible to compete in the  Limerick Lady Championship Final

 

Final to be held at Limerick Show on SUNDAY 22ndAugust.

 

PRIZE FUND

Each non- prize winning Filly numbers 6to 12  presented at the Final at Limerick will receive €50.

In addition, prize money will be awarded as follows:-

 

CHAMPION  €600 and The Traditional Irish Horsebreeding Society Perpetual Challenge Trophy

Reserve Champion - €450:  Third - €300:   Fourth - €250:   Fifth - €200   

The breeder of the Champion will receive €200

BEST TURNED OUT HANDLER & FILLY €100

SPECIAL AWARD

BERNEY & SONS, KILCULLEN, will present a head collar TO THE HIGHEST PLACED FILLY BY AN Irish Draught.

Each Filly is eligible to compete in next year’s Limerick Matron Championship

Guide Lines for Limerick Lady Two-Year-Old Fillies

1.             The aim of the Society is to select two-year-old Fillies with Quality and Substance whose progeny when put to a Thoroughbred Stallion will produce the Traditional Irish Bred Sport Horse.

2.             These fillies must have Good Conformation and be free from any Hereditary Defects

3.                Particular attention will be paid to the following –

(a)     Four Good Strong Limbs, especially in the foreleg below the knee

(b)     Good Movement

(c)      Good Outlook – head, neck and shoulder

(d)     Temperament to be a potential Brood Mare

3.        The breeding of these fillies must conform to the Qualifications as stated in the Conditions of entry for the Limerick Lady Championship.

 

FINAL AT LIMERICK SHOW SUNDAY 22ND AUGUST

 

 

 

Each Filly selected is eligible to compete in next year’s Limerick Matron Championship.

REGULATIONS:

1.             Animal Passports must be produced on day of Show.

2.             Foals must be led at all times.

3.             Please read conditions of acceptance of entry to each class carefully.

 

Class 7.                  NON THOROUGHBRED BROOD MARE 3 year old and over.

Mare must be stinted and dry.   R.I.D. Mares are not eligible for this class.

 The First National Building Society Challenge Cup. 

 

 Class 8

 REGISTERED IRISH DRAUGHT MARE with Foal at Foot or Stinted.      

This class is confined to animals entered in the Irish Draught Horse Book.

Entries will not be accepted unless name and registered number and R.I.D. number are stated on the entry form.

 

Class 9.                   FOAL BY AN IRISH DRAUGHT STALLION

Passports May be required to confirm that the Foal is by an Irish Draught Stallion.

 

N.B. No refund of entry fees will be made in the case of animals which are not sent forward for competition, or which are disqualified from competition for failure to comply with the regulations.

Class 10.          THE CELTIC ROSS HOTEL IRISH DRAUGHT FOAL QUALIFIER for Final at Bantry Show on 65h September.   Entry Fee €10.  See I.S.A. Yearbook Page 78.

 

Class 11.          NON-THOROUGHBRED BROOD MARE With Foal at Foot.    R.I.D. Mares are not eligible for this class.

Class 27                 THE CONNEMARA PONY GELDING ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP  QUALIFIER.  Final at Ballinrobe Show on Sunday 5th September.   Entry Fee to Qualifying Show €10.  To Final €20

 

Class 28.                 JUNIOR COMBINED SIDE-SADDLE CLASS

                                 PONIES 153 CMS & UNDER.

To be ridden by riders who have attained their 8th birthday on 1st January 2010 but have not attained their 19th birthday on 1st January 2010.

                               

N.B. No refund of entry fees will be made in the case of animals which are not sent forward for competition, or which are disqualified from competition for failure to comply ith the regulations.

 

 

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE

1.             Ponies & riders need not be registered with the I.P.S. to compete in these classes.

2.             The Committee reserve the right to cancel or rearrange any class if they consider entries insufficient.

2.        SPURS MUST NOT BE WORN IN PONY CLASSES.

3.        Ponies, Mares and Geldings entered in these classes must be 4 years old or over.

(a)           Ponies must be shown in snaffle bridles.

(b)           No cantering allowed except for individual performances

©             Ponies must leave the ring at a walk.

 

 

Class 30.                 OPEN LEAD REIN CLASS

For Ponies not exceeding 123 cms. Riders must be under 7 on 1st January 2010.

Ponies entered in this class are not eligible for Class 29.

 

The Robert Gelston Memorial Cup will be presented to the winner of this Class.

Class 31.                 NOVICE FAMILY LEAD REIN PONY CLASS

For Ponies, Mares or geldings 4 years old and over,

 not exceeding 143 cms. that have not been place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any

 Children’s Lead Rein Class.

 For riders who have not attained their 9th birthday on 1st January

 2010.

 

Conditions:

(a)                Ponies must be shown in Snaffle Bridles.

(b)                Ponies must be held at all times and will be required to trot.

 

 

 

Class 32.                 OPEN 128 CMS. RIDING CLASS

For Ponies not exceeding 128 cms. Riders must be under 13 on 1st January 2010.

 

Class 33.                 OPEN 138 CMS. RIDING CLASS

For Ponies exceeding 128 cms. but not exceeding 138 cms.  Riders must be under 15 on 1st January 2010.

 

 

 

 

Class 34.                OPEN 148 CMS. RIDING CLASS

For Ponies exceeding 138 cms. but not exceeding 148 cms. Riders must be under 17 on 1st January 2010.
