CATTLE SECTION 2010

 

INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITORS

ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE TWO TAGS AND MUST BE BRUCELLOSIS TESTED WITHIN 60 DAYS OF DATE OF SHOW.

 

ANIMALS OVER SIX WEEKS MUST BE T.B. TESTED WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF DATE OF SHOW AND MUST BE FROM A DISEASE FREE HERD.

The Society wishes to express sincere gratitude to the sponsors who have kindly donated Prize Money in this section.

 

ENTRY FEE €15 UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED

ENTRY FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL PRIOR TO THE SHOW

 

THE PRIZE SCHEDULE IS ISSUED SUBJECT TO RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THIS SOCIETY’S SHOW.

 

Cattle Judging will commence at 11.30 a.m sharp on Sunday 22nd August. 

 

False information given in entry forms will lead to disqualification from all Prize money.

 

CLASSES WITH LESS THAN 4 ENTRIES MAY BE CANCELLED

The Committee may amalgamate Classes if they desire.

NUMBERS WILL NOT BE POSTED.

Class 40.  YOUNG STOCKPERSON DAIRY    COMPETITION

 

Prize money – 1st  €65; 2nd €50; 3rd €40; 4th €25; 5th etc. €20.

 

Entry Fee: €5.00 (Class 40 only).

The aim of the competition is to encourage young people to become more involved with the management, nutrition and showing of Cattle.  The competition is open to boys and girls who have not reached 18 years by Show date.  Age to be shown on Entry Form.  Class will be judged as follows:

1.                  General knowledge of the breed and the animal itself, its nutritional requirements whilst being prepared for the Show – 40 points.

2.                  Ability to handle and present the animal to its best advantage in the Show – 60 points.

            This competition is opened to boys or girls under 14 on the day of the show.

The Champion Aberdeen Angus will receive an engraved whisky glass. The animal must be registered in the Aberdeen Angus Herd book and be exhibited by an Aberdeen Angus Member.

b)      Bull calf born 1/1/10  - 28/02/10

c)      Bull calf born 1/3/10 onwards

d)     Heifer calf born 1/9/09 – 31/12/09

e)      Heifer calf born 1/1/10 – 28/2/10

f)       Heifer calf born 1/3/10 onwards.

 

One or more qualifiers from each category to go forward to the All Ireland Irish Angus Junior Bull and Heifer Championship Finals.

There will be one Champion for each class and one overall Junior Champion selected at the Finals.

v  Cattle Exhibitors must be members of the Irish Cattle Society.

v  The cattle must be out of the Irish Angus Herd book.

v  Each qualifier will receive a sash that will be worn at the final in Strokestown on the 11th of September 2010.

 

v     All certificates of the cattle must be available.

1.       This competition is open to male and female non-pedigree     

       animals

2.       All animals must be retaining calves mouth on day of show.

3.         No restriction on number of entries by any particular owner.

      4.      Direct entry to Limerick Show.

Entry Fee: €25

Prize money: 1st €1000; 2nd €600; 3rd €400; 4th €250; 5th €150; 6th €100 7th – 12th €75.

 

MAY BE CASH OR PRODUCT

 

Class 108   THE 2010 ALL IRELAND NON-PEDIGREE CALF CHAMPIONSHIP

                 Rules and conditions:

1.      This competition is open to non – pedigree male and female calves.

2.      Weight restriction for final: Males not to exceed 410 kgs; Females not to exceed 360 kgs.

      A weighing scales will be provided on the day to weigh the calves.

3.      No restriction on number of entries per person.

4.       Calves are not eligible for entry in other classes in the show except for the suckling cow class.

          Entry Fee: €20
